We are especially proud of our work for the California Missions. We have completed numerous paintings, sculptures, a reredos, altars and wall paintings at 18 of the California Missions. Often these pieces have been neglected or badly repaired in the Past. Our goal has been not only to preserve the artwork but to fully document the process and use this as an educational tool.
We began our association with the Missions in 1980 thanks to Dr. Norman Neurerberg. For many years we had the privilege of gaining a tremendous wealth of knowledge from Dr. Neurerberg, art historian specializing in Spanish Colonial Art and the art and history of the California Missions.
The original painted and gilded layers of paint were covered by a thick layer of oil based paint.
The overpaint was removed revealing the original colors.
Areas of damage were then filled and inpainted.
